Sue Hughes Museum and Heritage Services

Sue Hughes is a Fellow of the Museums Association and has over 30 years’ experience in the museum and heritage sector, working for both local authorities and a number of independent trusts.  She is based in South West Scotland and her CV includes the roles of Museum Manager at Ellisland Museum and Farm, the rural home of Robert Burns, Heritage Consultant for the Globe Inn, Dumfries, Development Manager for the British Commercial Vehicle Museum, Manager of Knowsley Museum Service and Director of Macclesfield Museums and Cheshire West Museums.

Sue Hughes has led on many major funded projects including those funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, Foundation Scotland, the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Holywood Trust.  This has included capital projects and innovative engagement programmes which make museums and heritage more accessible and enjoyable to diverse audiences.
